About the International Forum
This is the fourth year when the International Financial University Forum is held in November. It is one of the major highbrow events scheduled for this period. The Forum will be attended by representatives of the federal government, business, expert and research communities and the Nobel Prize holders. This has become a tradition.
The next Russian Presidential elections are scheduled for spring 2018. Contrary to a widespread perception, there is room for uncertainty in the upcoming elections. Now we all need to become aware of what the rationale behind the next 6-year period of development will be. It is during the fall 2017 when the national economy development strategy for the period of 2018-2024 will be determined.
The annual International Financial University Forum is a very good venue where the experts can discuss issues and exchange views on the Russian economy development prospects, social sector development and the evolution of governance mechanisms.
The question of how to move on an accelerated growth trajectory has been on the Russian policy-makers' and economists' minds for a long time. We are in need of fresh and breakthrough ideas. The domineering concepts that have proved to be dysfunctional for decades can hardly be called inspirational.
What does the Russian economy need most? Does it need digitalization or major industrial project development? Do we need to focus on providing access to the investment funds to the real sector players or do we primarily need good management institutions? What about the large-scale reforms in the social and community sector? Are they a necessity or are they just risky? We are glad to invite you to discuss the above issues at the Financial University premises.
